It is with regret that GGP informs you that the original production of The AdHero Podcast has been de-platformed by Spotify. Spotify formally told the show's hosts that the podcast could have been removed for monetary reasons or for violating the platform's Terms of Service. But, the exact reasons are unclear even to Spotify.
This comes after Spotify's recent buyout of Anchor. There may have been some technical difficulties involved. However, the details are uncertain, and Spotify has not clearly explained itself.
This is yet another example of the censorship and content moderation challenges facing independent creators and publishers. Even the Locals.com platform that GGP uses for this newsletter has had to be cautious with its content to avoid violating terms of service.
De-platforming refers to removing individuals or groups from digital platforms, often social media, to limit the spread of harmful or unacceptable content. It is a complex issue that involves balancing concerns about free speech, harm prevention, and the responsibilities of digital platforms.
Despite the de-platforming, fans can still find the AdHero Podcast on other major platforms like Apple Podcasts, Rumble, YouTube, and Facebook. The hosts are also uploading content to Locals.com to have more control over their content. They are working to get the podcast reinstated on Spotify. In the meantime, encourage listeners to follow them on the other platforms.
We encourage all GGP Newsletter subscribers to stay informed and engaged with independent creators like the AdHero Podcast team. Support them by subscribing, sharing their content, and following them on social media. Together, we can fight against unfair censorship and content moderation practices.
