America is divided. Is there hope of bringing us back together again?

From a business perspective, creating a great product and a strategic marketing plan will attract customers.

Maybe the superhero movie genre will be the solution. Many American moviegoers might tell you that the superhero movie genre has been overplayed, but this couldn't be further from the truth.

I will start with the new leader of the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time, Deadpool & Wolverine.

This film premiered on Friday with an impressive $96 million opening. The domestic gross for last weekend was $211 million, while the international gross reached $233 million, bringing the worldwide total to $444 million.

Absolutely incredible.

The movie has gotten mixed reviews, but according to IMDB, the rating was 8.2 out of 10.

The movie-going audience loves this movie. So much so, that the spoilers are all over YouTube. The audience in the theater reacted with cheers and laughs.

Overall the box office weekend grossed $283 million. The highest-grossing weekend of 2024.

Comic-Con San Diego (SDCC) was also this weekend.

The most popular comic book convention (in the world) has struggled a little in the last few years after the lockdowns. Part of the reason for the decline was the lack of Hollywood programming (booking stars and studios, etc.) in 2023 and the writer's strike.

Now that those hurdles have been overcome, last weekend's SDCC featured big names like Marvel Studios, The Walking Dead, and Lord of the Rings, as well as streaming services such as Paramount+, FX, and Hulu. Comic Con is famous for its long lines and they made a return in 2024.

To top it off, the voice actors, screenwriters, and celebrities participated in panels and discussions. So, a broad range of programming helped bring in more attendees. The buzz the convention created was through the roof. This hasn’t been seen since Marvel Studios announced phase four during the

2019 convention.

The SDCC typically contributes $160 million to the local economy. However, the final numbers for the latest event are not yet available. This year, 135,000 attendees purchased tickets priced at $330 each. Additionally, hotel room prices for SDCC 2024 varied from $2,500 to $5,000 per night at downtown hotels, which may have made it difficult for some attendees to afford.

Finally, at SDCC 2024, Marvel Studios had a grand presentation for Deadpool and Wolverine, an introduction to the new Marvel first family of Fantastic Four, a teaser and an official panel of the cast of the latest Captain America New World Order and the return of Robert Downey Jr. who will now be a variant of Dr. Victor Von Doom.

The audience at San Diego's infamous Hall H convention center erupted in cheers.

Deadpool and Wolverine smashed the box office. SDCC is a complete success. And Marvel Studio looks to be back to its prior self from phases 1-3.

It just goes to show that if you offer a good product, market, advertise, and promote it, people, especially Americans, will come out to buy.
